True Christianity (Listen, narrated by the editor)
Greetings and welcome everyone, to this commentary titled “True Christianity”. Many have written about this subject and most have confused the issue because they have not gone strictly by the words of the Bible. Millions of people in our world today, who claim to be Christian’s do not really know (or do not pay any attention to) what it takes to be a true Christian! The overwhelming majority of mankind suffers from various things that they do know about. But the one thing they need to understand the most is that they suffer from the deceptions of False Christianity!! This they do NOT know they are suffering from, simply because they are not taught the full truth by those who should know. Several in the COG realm who should know are also confusing the subject in their writings by trying to blend the false Christianity the world knows with what has always been true Christianity that very few know about. With the death of the famous Billy Graham, (yesterday from this writing — 2/21/18), well loved by many and respected around the world by most; he was certainly considered to be a good Christian. However, sincere as he was in his belief and the way he conducted his life, he was not a true Christian according to the guidelines of your Bible. Few people in this world are actually true Christians, no matter what the claim may be. God has given us His standards in the Bible and will not except our excuses for disobedience, ignorance or neglect, even lukewarm compromises, though He is loving and very merciful to genuinely repentant people. (Read Rev.3:14-21 in the ASV)
To the many who (I hope) may read this, that may be a very shocking set of statements. I want to arouse your attention to this truth but am not trying to disparage anyone, so let me ask you this; is confessing the “name of Christ” or “believing on Christ” what makes one a true Christian? Is that all it takes? No real effort or hard trials to obey God in trying to overcome the ways of the world—just a profession of “believing on Christ”? There are many passages that people may quote that seem to suggest this is all you have to do, but Christ Himself said that we must live by every Word of God, which includes the whole Bible, (Luke 4:4 & Matt.4:4, from Duet.8:3) and that Scriptures themselves cannot be broken! (John 10:35) Remember, Matt 24:4-5, in Christ’s own words says "Take heed that no one deceives you. (Talking to His disciples and true Christians today) V.5 For many will come in My name, saying 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many”. Almost every professing Christian organization today says this — that Christ is the messiah and Son of God—but do not do what Christ has said to do. This prophecy has been fulfilled many times down through time. Many claim to be Christians by professing Christ, but are actually taking Christ, the Lord’s name in vain with their claim and deceive others to do so, breaking the 3rd Commandment. (See 2 Tim.2:19 & the 3rd Commandment article for more.)
James tells us in Ch. 2:V10 “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” So the Ten Commandment LAW keeping is still in effect for the true Christian! Most professing Christians also do not keep the 4th Commandment, when they assemble for worship on Sunday or any other weekly day that is not the 7th day Sabbath, put in place at creation. (See “Sanctified Time” in the Bible Studies section for more on this) A true Christian is a follower of Christ in obedience to God, plain and simple. (Read or listen to the new article “Pagan beliefs and true Christianity” for more)
So my friends and brethren let us quickly remind ourselves what it takes to make up true Christianity, besides the obvious points already mentioned. Do not let the mass confusions on the world scene and in religion today get you off track from Biblical truth. (Listen to the Gospel message titled “Lined up on God”, recently posted, for more on that aspect of true Christianity.) Do you know what Scriptures prove what a true Christian is and could you point them out in helping someone else to see?? They are easily found in your bible, so let us take a quick look at just some of those identifying signs in the Bible. There are many more than what I am revealing here.
Christ said that GOD must be worshiped in Spirit and truth, for God is Spirit. (John 4:23-24) So how is that done today, you may wonder? As the Scriptures teach, one must be a mature adult and be repentant, then baptized, and that is by emersion into a watery grave, as john the Baptist was doing. (See also Rom.6:4) The apostle Peter preached on the day of Pentecost in 31 AD that one seeking to be a true Christian and receive salvation must "Repent, (he says) and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38 NKJ) So one must quit sinning, coming out and away from this world and its ways; (as the Days of UNLB pictures) and to know what sin is, we can read 1John3:4, which shows sin is lawlessness or the transgression of God’s Law. Keeping the Law of God is obviously still in effect for the true Christian, even today. 1 John 2:4 says; “He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” So here are more signs or points of what a true Christian does, and in fact, another Biblical point is that God will not give His spirit to those who do not obey Him or follow Christ and His example. (See Acts 5:32 & Heb.5:9) No one ever becomes a true Christian without being begotten of the Holy Spirit. (1Pet.1:3-5) Billy Graham nor anyone else failing to keep the 7th day Sabbath was ever led by the Holy Spirit to teach this and pagan doctrines that go contrary to the Word of God; so it is very unlikely that the Holy Spirit was in him, thus he was not a true Christian. Rom 8:9 says; ---“Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.” In other words he is not a Christian, as Christ Himself kept the Sabbath! To worship God in Spirit and truth is to have the Spirit of God living and active in them, leading them to obey the truths of the Bible—(Rom.8:14) not man’s traditions that have been taught as truth to unsuspecting people for hundreds of years.
Christ, as an example for all, kept the annual Holy Days that are commanded in the book of Leviticus 23 and His apostles continued to keep those same annual Holy Days long after Christ ascended to heaven. They were not given just for the “JEWS”! (V.2 & 4) God says these are MY FEASTS! This is another example of true Christianity, which is easily seen performed by the early COG in the NT. So when one gets right down to what a true Christian is and always has been; biblically speaking—it is exactly the opposite (in most cases) of what we see most professing Christians claiming and doing today.
If you want to see much more on this and many more signs, then be sure to read the newly updated “Signs of Gods true Church” in the articles section. If you are seeking to understand what it takes to be a true Christian and what a true Christian really is, be sure to read & believe your Bible, along with this and other articles found here, with a mind to learn truth and overcome error. The world and it’s errors will not cease until Christ’s return and then He Binds Satan. Only true and faithful Christianity through time will be in the first resurrection (Rev.17:14, last part & 20:4) and actually be able to see God, (Billy Graham’s hope) because they will then BE GOD! For Billy Graham and the many others who have died in the deceptions of False Christianity—they will rest in their graves until the thousand years have ended (Rev.20:5) and they come back to physical life for their judgment. (Rev.20:11-15)
This is the editors commentary for TCOGMSO, encouraging you to read or listen to the many pieces of material on this web site that are here to help you learn more about true Christianity and what it really is to be a Christian. Based on that truth found in your Bible, you must then decide which way you will go, from then on.
