Are you BLIND?

Greetings to you, brethren!

How well are we (In various COG groups) seeing the things of God and believing? The title above is for those who think they are doing well at seeing and obeying the whole word of God. How many “COG” groups are there? (I stopped counting a long time ago, but the number seems to still be increasing.)

Why is it that these COG groups (with their specific leaders) cannot seem to agree on enough that they can work together to get the work of God done? Why is it that; when the Scriptures clearly tell us (That is, all true Christians) we are to be striving to be in unity with one another and are supposed to be of “ONE body” - that we seem to be unable to do that? That is what we were all called be, is it not? (Read Eph.4:1-6 & 1Cor.12:12-13, for example—  Using NKJV throughout, unless otherwise noted.)

What is it that keeps us all from being together in one organization, like the majority of us used to be? With Passover soon coming on for another year, (April 19, 2019) should this title question be a part of our self-examination? (2Cor.13:5 & 1Cor.11:28-29) Are you blindto the things that are supposed to make us all Christians—followers of Christ? (Acts 11:26—John 13:34-35)

My commentary at this time is really based on an observation of mine (and many others) that has gone on for many years now! Is it getting better or worse, for you individually, with the passing of time? Have the majority of us all gone blind to what we were told to hold fast to?? (Rev.3:11) Are we now blind to some aspects of God’s Word and just don’t know it? What “NEW” doctrine do you believe that has now made you blind to other points of truth? Have we succumbed to a lot of Human interpretation instead of the pure word of God?

Is there perhaps a single cause that we could pin-point for all the division among the COG groups today? (Of course there are many, but for this commentary, I am just focusing on this one thing—to perhaps jar some back to reality! Christ Himself said; “I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.” (John 8:28) and V.29 “for I always do those things that please Him."

Do we all believe God and try to put on a mind like that of Christ, (Phil.2:5) or are we each one being blind to some things we need most? We are all in Laodicea and one of those lukewarm traits is being spiritually blind! (Rev 3:17 “-- and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked”–

I want to suggest that we take into account; Deut. 4:2 “You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.”

We see this mentioned again in; Deut.12:32 "Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.” There are many other places that give us similar warnings—about paying close attention to what God says—but are many of us guilty of this? Let us just consider these commands in our self-examination, with one from the NT.

Let us read what Rev 22:18-19 says for all true Christians who believe and act; “For I (Christ says) testify to everyone (not just a few) who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”

(These are some serious words to think about! In other-words, the Lord your God, which was none other than Christ Himself, says in affect —“don’t mess around with what I have already said and inspired to be written”!! Isa.46:9-10 & 2Tim.3:16-17)

How many today, in the COG and out—false Christianity and true—want to humanly interpret things for themselves, something apart from what the Word of God actually reveals? MANY! Some people seem to think the OT is done away and the book of Revelation stands alone; which can contradict some of the rest of NT Scripture. I have even heard some think Christ was not given the whole truth by the Father about how He intends Christ to return—obvious unaware that Christ reveals the Words in the book of Revelation also. (Rev.1:1) It is as if they have gone blind to what many passages have already revealed in Scripture and only focusing on a few vague passages and what their particular organization now teaches. (See “Christ’s Return” with transcript from 2015, in the Bible Studies section for more on this particular point.)

We (in the COG) should have come to know by now that these passages apply to all true Christians. We should not be blind to the clever deceptions of the devil. Think about Prov. 30:6 and how it applies to us all. “Do not add to His words, Lest He (GOD) rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” No liars will be admitted into the Kingdom of God at any time, (Rev.21:8) so their names will be blotted out of the book of life, just as we have read! 1 John 5:10-11 “He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son.”

So we know from these passages alone that we are not to read into God’s word something that it does not say, or take away something it does say. Many are confused and misled because they have been told something that is not written—only imagined and speculated upon. Let us think about what these passages we have just read reveal as we contemplate the up-coming Passover and our personal examination. Are we in the “Faith” or being blinded? How many things have we allowed ourselves to become blind to, in order to agree with some false doctrine or stay in a particular church group? Are we believers or unbelievers, when it comes to certain teachings of the day? Laodicea has lukewarm and compromising traits that have to be overcome and it is the last & seventh era of the true COG. Philadelphia has passed into history and time is running out. However the ZEAL for God and His truth should still be very much alive! Christ will return soon and those who are ready will be joined with Him, in the clouds and the air as He makes His decent. It all boils down to belief and faith, listening to Christ (The entire Word of God) and conquering the devils subtly attempt to keep us blinded to the truth! (2 Cor. 4:3-4— “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

Are you and I willingly being blind in some areas or will we wake up and repent, getting back to the truth of Scripture? The choice is ours to make and we must make it in order to be included in the Lambs book of life. We cannot be blind to any revealed truth or the true Christian way, but we must not add to or take away anything anywhere!
