A Second Time?
(How many times does Christ come back to this earth, after ascending to the Father?)
How is your understanding of the steps in God’s Holy Day plan and the details of Christ’s return, given by Christ himself? I realize of course, that the majority in our world today do not even know of these things because many religions do not teach them. But the true COG does believe and teach them from what the bible presents in its many passages on the subject. Christ says He is going to return, and explains how in several places (None of which seem uncertain) but does a second time mean he will only come to earth once more? What about this? Some seem to have a problem with this actually meaning what it says, and I will get to that in a moment. However, in the time frame I grew up in, we were taught in school that a second time means twice; one and one makes two—not three or more.
We live in a completely different world today than what I and many others my age grew up in; and I came into the last part of the 6th era of the COG. That era has passed (Being very obvious to many) but some don’t seem to believe that either. We have passed into the time frame that was prophesied to come; written about in the letter to Laodicea. (Isa 3:12) God inspired it to be written; “As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, and destroy the way of your paths." Years ago this could have and did apply to the leaders of nations and those of many differing religions but now (during the last 30 years) it also can apply in the differing COG groups. Note a few verses back; pointing more toward secular society. V.4 "I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. 5 The people will be oppressed, every one by another and every one by his neighbor; the child will be insolent toward the elder, and the base toward the honorable." (Using the NKJ unless otherwise noted.)
This is Laodicea, the end time era of the COG, as it is also the world we are now living in, that many of biblical end time prophesies will be fulfilled. The 6th era was not the end time era of the COG, as Christ does not return until the ending of the 7th era and this evil age! Comparing example: Friday is the 6th day of the week and does NOT continue right on over into the 7th day, as if the 6th day never ended. But some of the ways of thinking about certain things in this liberal society has also affected the thinking and rational of many of the younger generation, (Laodicea) even in the COG today. However, some of the older in the ministry, (from the 6th era) have also been affected and were already at that time. They think the 6th era has continued right on, alongside the 7th era—running parallel with each other. A true Christian striving to be a first fruit is looking, longing and has it their hope for a soon return of Christ and cannot be caught up in assumptions and lukewarm compromises of men. We all should know (True Christians, that is) and understand that second coming means the marriage of the first fruits to Christ. (That is, those who rightly divide the word of truth and have proper belief in what it says, without reading things into Scripture that are not really there.)
We are also approaching once again, the annual fall festivals of God for 2018 and the next one coming is called the feast of Trumpets, (Lev.23:24-25) symbolizing the coming of Christ back to this earth to set up His Kingdom, which based on a number of Scriptures. (See Rev.11:15, the bible study link just given and other scriptures will be given later.) That brings me to the reason for the title “A second Time?” because to a few today, numbers mean something and a second time is only twice! Some however, even in the COG have forgotten a second time means only twice when it comes to the return of Christ. They have come up with some rationalizing of some passages of Scripture, giving them fuel for cause for another method in Christ’s return and then marriage to His Bride, that ignores some of the clear words of Scripture!
Let me make clear what I am referring to; Christ is the one who appeared in Human form as the Melchizedek and was without father or mother—in other words; He just appeared in human form and then disappeared from the scene, as far as the Bible and its account. This is assumed by some to possibly count as a first appearing. However, according to the bible it is not counted as a first coming, as that was when Christ was actually born of the flesh and lived in the flesh, AS FLESH for over thirty years. Christ did also appear many times after He was resurrected but here again there is no Scripture that says He went back and forth from the throne in the third heaven. Is it okay to JUST assume He did and that would be counted—making anything different from that way of thinking a lie? (Heb. 6:18 says “it is impossible for God to lie,” & No liars will be in His Kingdom! Rev.21:8—so we need to be careful in what we are teaching AND EVEN ALLOWING OURSELVES TO BE THINKING.)
People may also claim that a second appearing occurred when Christ was first resurrected, going to the Father and then back—but here again, where is the Scripture that says any of this is biblically counted as His returning to earth for the purpose of Salvation and the marriage to the saints? We are told in the ASV & Heb.9:28 “so Christ also, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, apart from sin, to them that wait for him, unto salvation.” The NKJ has “so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.” But if He comes in the clouds and all His glory, as Scriptures explain; even being seen by men—can He then leave to go to the throne in the third heaven for the marriage, as some have been teaching now for several years, then return again from that and it all still be counted as a second time? According to the way I learned math in school—that would get me an “F” and certainly seems to be a third coming—and I have not read about that one anywhere in Scripture. What are the details of it; IF it is to really happen as it has been spoken of and written about?
There are many passages of Scripture that this kind of “DOCTRINE” would defy, so do we now believe the opinions and assumptions of men, or the word of God without the human reasoning’s?
In closing this short article, let us examine just a few Scriptures real quickly. Look at these in your own Bible, please, for your understanding of truth’s sake on this subject!
Rev 1:7 “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him.”
Acts 1:9-11 “Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."
Matt 24:30-31 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
1 Thess. 4:16-18 “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. (Clearly in earth’s atmosphere) And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.”
Where will the Lord be at this time, so often spoken of? Zech.14:4 “And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,”-- which, as you go on reading is in Jerusalem on this earth.
He is going to come back, be seen in earth’s atmosphere, met in the clouds and the air by the saints, then come on down to earth and stand on it, as all of these passages indicate. So, will Christ really come back as these Scriptures explain in detail, but then grab the saints secretly; (much like the rapture theory) whisk back up to the third heaven for the marriage—then return again as if this was all just His second coming? That is what would have to happen if the marriage is in the third heaven at the throne of the Father! (See the “Christ’s Return” bible study for more on this, with written transcript and audio mp3.)
Scriptures are pretty clear for me that Christ will return a second time; ruling on this earth with the first fruits for a thousand years! (See Rev.20:1-7) He will live/dwell on this earth a second time, even much longer than the first, when He was begotten by God and born in the human form.
